EMSculpt for Joint Stabilization & Injury rehabilitation

Rehabilitate Your Body & Strengthen Your Core

Is acute or chronic pain preventing you from doing the things you love? Non-invasive treatments with EMSCULPT can help you return to the activities and functions you want to do now and in the future!

What is Emsculpt?

EmSculpt® is an FDA-approved body sculpting treatment that is non-invasive and non-surgical. While EmSculpt® also has cosmetic uses, at Precision Regenerative Medicine, Dr. Penhollow uses the treatment for physical rehabilitation. We use the therapy to increase muscle mass around the spine and joints to relieve pain and reduce the load on the joints that are experiencing too much force.

This innovative treatment uses HIFEM® (High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic) technology to cause rapid and intense muscle contractions. As a result, your muscles adapt and grow.

The treatment can enhance your core strength and stability and help build muscle in your arms, back, buttocks, and legs to stabilize the joints and reduce pain. Dr. Penhollow focuses on this strengthening of the core muscles in her Tower of Power™ system.

EmSculpt® at Precision Regenerative Medicine can help you get back to all the activities you love!

What Emsculpt Does For Joint Stabilization and Rehabilitation

Average Increase in Muscle Mass*

* The efficacy and safety have been tested in seven multi-center studies by the most reputable scientific methods (MRI, CT, US, and Histology).

This non-invasive HIFEM® (High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic) procedure induces powerful muscle contractions that cannot be achieved voluntarily.

One EMSCULPT® treatment is equivalent to doing 20,000 muscle contractions in half an hour! As your muscles are exposed to HIFEM, the tissue must adapt to extreme conditioning, resulting in muscle growth or rehabilitative regrowth.

The body then responds with a deep remodeling of its inner structure, resulting in natural muscle building!

What Areas of the Body can be Treated With EmSculpt®?

Emscuplt® has applicators for the abdomen, arms, quads, calves, and buttocks. Most patients with neck and back pain can benefit from treatments focused on the abdomen, back, and/or buttocks. Treatments to the quadriceps and calf areas can benefit those with knee, calf, or quadricep injuries and even those who are candidates for (or who have already undergone) knee surgery. Treatments to the biceps and triceps can strengthen the arms thereby stabilizing the shoulders and taking some load off of the joints. Treatments to the abdomen can strengthen the core to improve posture and reduce any pain that runs from the lower spine down to the legs.

Am I a Good Candidate For Injury Prevention or Rehabilitation Using EmSculpt®?

Candidates for the rehabilitative features of EmSculpt® include:

  • Acute or chronic injuries
  • Back, knee, or shoulder pain
  • Planned or prior lumbar spine surgery
  • Planned or prior shoulder surgery

Dr. Penhollow uses EmSculpt® to treat sports injuries, helping athletes regain their high level of fitness and safely return to their sports. Strengthening these muscles can relieve pain, restore function, and improve your posture and stability in “rehab” or rehabilitation, either post-injury or post-operatively.

In some cases, Dr. Penhollow may also recommend EmSculpt® treatment to prevent new injuries from occurring by strengthening the core muscles. EmSculpt® can also be used for “prehab” to help prevent future injuries from occurring and to prepare the body BEFORE surgery to facilitate a quicker recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions About Emsculpt

EMSCULPT uses non-invasive HIFEM (High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic) technology to induce powerful muscle contractions. One EMSCULPT treatment is equivalent to doing 20,000 muscle contractions in half an hour! As your muscles are exposed to HIFEM, the tissue must adapt to extreme conditioning, resulting in muscle growth or rehabilitative regrowth.

You lie down on a treatment table for back or abdomen, or you recline on a treatment table for leg or arm treatments. The EmSculpt® applicators are placed over the skin of the target area.

An EmSculpt® treatment takes about 30 minutes. You might feel a deep vibration, twitching, or a buzzing sensation during the treatment. EmSculpt is noninvasive, and you don’t need to take any time off to recover.

Patients respond to EmSculpt® treatments differently with many noting an improvement in a couple of weeks, but you may need more time depending on pain levels and condition. For example, optimal results for cosmetic use are best with a BMI <30 and may take up to 8 weeks after the last treatment yet results for rehabilitation and injury prevention may be noticed after the first session. Your overall results will depend on the type of pain you experience, and the level of rehabilitation needed.

Our goal is for our EMSCULPT® patients to return to the activities they love with renewed stability and strength. Treatments at Precision Regenerative Medicine can help you play with your kids or grandkids again or help you regain the independence of carrying groceries, placing your own bag in the overhead bin on the airplane, or getting up from a chair and walking around the house. EMSCULPT® can help build strength!

Non-invasive, non-surgical EMSCULPT® requires no downtime. After the procedure, we encourage you to increase your water intake that day to help flush the lactate waste products, but otherwise you are free to go back to your regular routine!
