The Power of Emsculpt for Prehab & Rehab
Emsculpt® is a nonsurgical therapy that helps you rebuild and tone your muscles. This revolutionary technology is not only beneficial for helping you strengthen your core, but it can also help you recover more efficiently from muscular injuries.
At Precision Regenerative Medicine, Tammy Penhollow, DO, offers customized plans using Emsculpt technology as part of your prehab or rehab treatment.
Dr. Penhollow helps you safely rebuild your muscle strength and can also improve the aesthetic appearance of your abdomen, buttocks, and other parts of your body.
How Emsculpt works
Emsculpt uses high intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM®) energy to induce powerful muscle contractions in the treatment area.
These are contractions you can’t achieve voluntarily and because of the extreme conditions, your muscles respond with a deep remodeling of its inner structure. This helps you build more natural muscle and facilitates your body’s natural healing processes.
Emsculpt’s targeted treatment areas
Using the Emsculpt technology, Dr. Penhollow can treat many areas of the body where you want to build muscle. This includes your:
- Arms
- Quads
- Calves
- Abdomen
- Buttocks
You may also be a candidate for Emsculpt treatments if you are recovering from painful muscle injuries in your abdomen, lumbar spine, calf, or knee. By rebuilding the muscle in these areas, you can stabilize and eliminate excess pressure on your joints.
Stronger core muscles also help improve your posture, so you can reduce any spine-related pain you have in your lower back or limbs.
When to consider Emsculpt
If you’re looking to improve your performance in your favorite sport, Dr. Penhollow may recommend Emsculpt treatments to enhance your core strength and lower your risk for painful injuries. This is “prehab” or prevention of an injury before it even occurs!
You may also benefit from treatment with Emsculpt technology for “rehab” if you’re recovering from a sports injury or a surgery to repair an injury. Emsculpt treatments can address acute or chronic pain in the back, knees, and shoulders.
Additionally, Dr. Penhollow can determine if you’re a candidate for Emsculpt treatments if you want to tone your muscles to improve your physical appearance.
What to expect during an Emsculpt session
During your Emsculpt treatment, you can expect to lie comfortably on a table and Dr. Penhollow places the applicator over the treatment area.
The technology induces about 20,000 full muscle contractions during a 30-minute session. While the contractions aren’t painful, you can expect to feel the contractions. Many people report feeling like they went through an intense gym workout after treatment is complete.
Once your session is over, you may begin to see the results of your treatment. However, to achieve optimal results, Dr. Penhollow will recommend a minimum of four sessions scheduled a few days apart.
Your Emsculpt results can last up to six months provided that you eat a healthy diet and follow a regular exercise plan. Dr. Penhollow can discuss your options for additional treatments to address new injuries or help you maintain your muscle tone.
